Amy’s Attic – Nanchen Doll Review

Dolls…. Put your hand up if you have dolls at home. Put your hand up if you have a baby that you know, in just a few months will adore dolls. Well that’s us. Two, two year olds who love their dolls. I don’t know if you find this but some of the dolls out there that are currently on the market are huge and really not suitable as first dolls. Even the small dolls are sometimes too big. But then I spotted these ‘Nanchen Baby Dolls in a Crib’ I thought perfect`! I had a long chat with the owner about these and it was her who suggested them for the girls. Going from one extreme to the other, I thought they would be too small. Mummy was wrong again. Perfect for little hands. Perfect for the car. Perfect for holidays and perfect to play with.

Popitha’s First Thoughts

My girls are dinky just like these dolls. They frequently play with them which shows how suitable they are for this age group. They have not been a toy that gets played with once and then gets pushed back to the back of the cupboard.

A Closer Look at the Dolls

Baby Flora and Baby Robin are Waldorf style dolls from the Nanchen range. They come snuggled up in a mini quilt, inside a crib.

Baby Flora

Flora comes with a lovely soft organic blanket (with flowers on) and a green polka dot fabric crib. She has a pink soft organic terry towelling hat and a lilac soft organic terry towelling body.

Baby Robin

Robin comes with a lovely soft organic blanket (with Robin’s on) and a blue polka dot fabric crib. He has a blue soft organic terry towelling hat and a pale blue soft organic terry towelling body.

The crib with Baby Flora and Baby Robin is 15 cm long and can be washed by hand.

Nanchen dolls are hand made in Germany. Their faces are delicately hand painted so that every doll is unique, with each one having its own individual charm and character.

These beautiful dolls are made from certified organic cotton and are filled with 100% pure new wool from controlled organic farms. They are all completely safe and toxin free.

Should your doll have an accident, Nanchen offer a doll doctor service which will repair your toy with love and care, to the highest standard. The dolls retail at £23.00 each.

Who is behind Amy’s Attic?

Amy’s Attic is a small family run business. Amy’s passion was always to start her own business, but at the same time felt very strongly about being ethical, and not trading in the throw-away type products that are so easy to come by (and to get rid of).  Amy had a particular interest in hand-made, fair trade and organic products, and having two children of her own became more interested in finding toys that were not the usual type found on the high street, and that fit into the fair trade, organic ethos. After some time, the idea began to form of opening a toy shop that sold ethical well-made toys which would last, and would be engaging for children.
