From the moment baby number 3 was born she liked to be swaddled. After lots of screaming on day two, the midwifes in the hospital showed me how to safely swaddle but said that I needed to be careful with overheating – great, we were in the middle of a heatwave which little did we know was going to last for weeks and so I wanted to look into alternative swaddling products. This is when I came across the award winning baby swaddles from Ergo Pouch.
We were lucky enough to be asked to review a summer Ergo Pouch Swaddle and started using it from the moment we got home from the hospital. It was safe to use from birth (make sure baby is over 6.6lb) and Matilda loved feeling snug and cocooned. A great recipe to aid little ones’ sleep!
The Ergo Pouch swaddle is easy to use
In all honesty, I worry about traditional swaddling as I was getting in a complete muddle and worried if I had done it correctly, so when I got the Ergo Pouch swaddle out, I was relieved to see how simple it was to use and that there was no need for complicated wrapping. They are designed to be both easy to use and difficult to escape from! The swaddle has one zip up the middle with a two-way zipper so there is no need to take off the whole swaddle to change nappies in the middle of the night. This was exactly what I needed at 3am!
Swaddle to sleeping bag
A great feature of the Ergo Pouch swaddle is the 2 in 1 transition system. There are poppers in the armholes to allow arms to stay inside, but then undone, allows the arms to be free and transforms into a sleeping bag. As soon as Matilda found her arms, she loved to have them out, however, they are still a little out of control and she can be known to wake herself up so they are staying inside for the time being!
The Ergo Pouch Swaddle comes in a variety of different tog options
These swaddles are made from breathable, skin-friendly natural fibres and came in a range of different togs depending on the time of year. 0.2 for summer temperatures above 24°c, 1.0 for autumn/spring nights when the temperatures between 21°C and 24°C and 2.5 for Winter temperatures between 17°C and 23°C.
